SECAUCUS, NJ--On the heels of its President and COO Emanuel Stern being named New Jersey Environmental Executive of the Year, Hartz Mountain Industries has launched a new website to capture the performance of its sustainability initiative. As a component of the program, MStern will introduce a Twitter feed to express his insights on environmental and sustainability issues – with a particular focus on the opportunities to create clean, economically viable, solar power solutions. Mr. Stern can be followed at www.twitter.com/esternhartzmtn, and his tweets will be archived on the new site. On the website’s front page, a graphic shows in real time the power output of the solar panels atop the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus. The solar array is the first of many solar installations that Hartz plans to install on the roofs of buildings, predominantly warehouses, and upon brownfield sites. It is also the first completed solar installation in New Jersey to be partially funded by PSE&G’s Solar Loan Program. Within the website’s Conservation and Energy Reduction Center section, Hartz offers a comprehensive look at the six key facets of its sustainability initiative: its hospitality program, solar energy, sustainable development, water conservation, lighting and HVAC, and office waste conservation. A wealth of information is available within each panel, such as green summary reports for Hartz’s Soho Grand and Tribeca Grand Hotels in New York City, and the Weehawken Sheraton Suites at Lincoln Harbor. The website also contains an archive of press coverage of Hartz’s sustainability initiative and updates on sustainability-related events. Hartz Mountain Industries www.hartzmountain.com
